Description
An identity card is an official document that proves your identity and nationality. When carrying out certain procedures abroad (applying for a visa, enrolling at a university, getting a job internationally or even opening a bank account abroad), you may need to provide a certified translation of this document. Produced by a sworn translator from a certified copy of your ID card (which you can obtain from your local town hall), this translation guarantees that your document will be accepted by the relevant authorities.
Language choices
Several options are available in the drop-down menu. For any other language combination, please request a quote.
Available options
The following options can be added depending on your needs:
- Legalisation/certification of signature: in some cases, a certified translation of your documents is not enough. Legalisation may be required if the translated document is intended for foreign authorities. Legalisation consists of authenticating the signature of the sworn translator. To do this, the translator must sign the certified translation in the presence of a notary public or mayor. The notary public or mayor will add their stamp to the translation in order to ‘legalise’ the translator’s signature. This formality must therefore be carried out by the translator.
- Extra copy: useful if you are asked to provide several copies.
- Urgent request (< 48 h): your order is prioritised and delivered in a shorter timeframe. This option is not available if legalisation is required due to the deadlines imposed by the mayor or notary public.
- Send and receive the originals by post: recommended if the authorities require the original document and its translation, with the translator’s stamp and signature, to be sent by post.
Quick and easy order placement
- Select the language, number of pages and options
- Upload your document as a PDF or clear image.
- The translation is produced, certified and delivered by email in PDF format. If the original paper copy is required, please select “Send and receive the originals by post”.
Mandatory certification text
All translations specify whether they were drawn up “from the original” or “from the scanned document” presented to me, depending on the document provided. The translator’s signature, stamp and a unique ‘ne varietur’ number appear on each page of the translation and the original document attached thereto.
Deadlines and delivery
The standard deadline of 3 working days applies once the order has been confirmed. The urgent option allows for faster delivery. You will always receive a certified PDF by email, with the option of receiving the original paper document by post if you have chosen the option to send the originals.
Other documents
We also provide translations of any other official document requiring certification by a sworn translator. Your documents can be grouped together when placing your order to simplify this process.
